Five Quills children’s books is an independent children’s book publisher. Our picture books and more advanced chapter books are filled with lively illustrations and wonderful stories, all carefully written and designed for young readers between the ages of 3-9 years. The Five Quills Children’s list is growing day by day. Our team is busy working on several new and exciting titles, including a brand new Wildlife Adventure series featuring our eco-heroine Lottie Boffin. Daniela has worked in publishing and early childhood education for over 20 years. In 2017 she purposely founded Five Quills to create picture books and young fiction titles that inspire children to become life long readers. Daniela publishes books that not only fire up children’s creativity and imagination, but also enrich their literacy skills and knowledge of the world around them. She has worked as an independent educational consultant in the UK, and for large publishers in the US and Italy, including Random House, Houghton Mifflin, Abbeville Press and Skira. Ever enthusiastic to work with both established and emerging authors and illustrators, Daniela keeps a lookout for new stories and series ideas suitable for young readers.

Natascha has over 20 years’ experience commissioning and editing picture books, novelties, young fiction and non-fiction. She has worked with ABC, Dorling Kindersley and Random House Children’s Books. In 2010 Natascha launched Blue Elephant Storyshaping, a coaching, editing and mentoring service aimed at children’s authors and illustrators to fine-tune their work pre-submission. She is the Regional Advisor (Chair) of the SCBWI British Isles, the editor of Kes Gray’s Daisy series, and the author of Elephants Never Forget (1995), Is this My Nose? (2008) and The Crayon Man. (2019). In 2018 Natascha was awarded an MBE for her services to children’s book writers and illustrators, and in 2019 she received the Stephen Mooser SCBWI Member of the Year award.

Amy has over 16 years of experience working in Publishing. She is a graduate in Graphic Design from Nottingham Trent University and is mad about books and typography. She is at her happiest spending time with her young family surrounded by huge piles of books.  Previous UK experience has included: working in-house for BBC Worldwide, Random House (now Penguin Random House), Simon and Schuster, Bloomsbury, Egmont Books and Buster Books. Amy has designed a varied selection of children’s magazines and both fiction and picture books before going freelance in 2010. In her spare time, Amy can be found consuming large cups of coffee whilst playing outside with her two children or running in the mountains. She is forever trying to improve her French…

Petula has worked in children’s rights for over 25 years, she has a passion for picture books and loves working with publishers from all over the world. She started her career in London at Methuen Children’s Books, which then became Reed Children’s Books, onto 3 years at Penguin Books selling the Hamish Hamilton Children’s list before taking a gap year and back-packing around the world. On returning to the UK she joined Harper Collins and then Egmont for 7 years before deciding to leave the bright lights of the big city to move her family down to the wilds of Dartmoor in Devon and setting up her Rights Agency business. She is delighted to be representing the Five Quills list.
